These images of the March Market of the Smithfield Horse Fair were taken in the afternoon. Earlier in the morning gunshot were fired causing a stampede and afterwards the DSPCA renewed their call to close the horse fair. If the call for emergency legislation to ban the fair is heeded by the incoming government this could be one of the last horse fairs at Smithfield.

Horses bolted after hearing the gunshots leaving crowes of people including small children caught up in the stampede.
