Terenure Gardai have renewed an appeal for help relating to the murder of 42-year-old Liam Murray in March 2009.

Gardai say that both they and his family hope that this renewed appeal may jog the memory of people, and encourage them to come forward.

Liam was socialising at a bar on the junction between South Circular Road and Clonbrassil Street up to 6pm on St Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2009. He was later seen in the Terenure area.

His body was found three days later, at 10am on March 20, at his house at Rockbrook Cottages on the Edmonstown Road near Rockbrook School and close to the Mount Venus Cemetery.

“This has been an extensive investigation with in the region of 700 statements taken from witnesses, and door to door enquiries carried out. The matter is still being actively pursued by Gardai at Terenure. There have been no arrests to date,” said Sergeant Tony Connaughton.

He said: “The location that Liam Murray was murdered is a reasonably isolated area and any unfamiliar persons or vehicles should have been noticed. Also there is a pub nearby and again witnesses from here may have witnessed a suspicious vehicle or person. Gardaí have attempted to identify all persons/witnesses that were in the area at the time but there remains the possibility that there are more witnesses who have yet to come forward.”

Gardai are asking anybody who may have seen Liam or was around Rockbrook Cottages between the March 17-19 2009 to contact the incident room at Terenure Garda Station on 01 6666400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Projects which were granted funding include a Shankill Village Christmas Festival, Christmas lights and festival in Dunlaoghaire, a street festival in Blackrock, and the creation of a garden area for outdoor community activities in Dundrum.

Marketing pushes which are to receive funding include: marketing Dun Laoghaire Harbour and the town to cruise operators, and a campaign aimed at changing the image of Sandyford Industrial Estate to a business district.

The Dodder starts in the Kippure Mountain flows throught countryside and then through urban areas including Tallaght, Rathfarnham, Rathgar, Milltown, Donnybrook, Ballsbridge, and Ringsend, where it meets the Liffey Estuary.

The city council notes that the river has overflowed its banks on numerous occasions causing damage to adjacent properties.

School inspection reports were publiched on the website of the Department of Education and Skills on Thursday.

The release includes 12 whole-school evaluations (WSE) of Dublin primary schools, one whole-school evaluation at post-primary level and 13 stand-alone subject inspections at post-primary level.

The department says whole-school evaluation reports look at the school’s management, planning and management of resources; the effectiveness of teaching and learning; its arrangements for student assessment, supports for students, provision for minority groups and home-school links.

Responses from a school’s board of management – if available — can be found at the end of reports.
