Dublin Bus is making further bus route changes in Finglas East, Glasnevin, and Drumcondra as part of its Network Direct service cutting project.

Dublin Bus says routes 13 and 13a will be merged into the 13. Route 19a will be renamed the 19 and the current 19 will be merged with the 83.

It says that the 11/a/b will also operate as the 19, but it appears that this effectively means that the route will no longer operate as the 19 only serves a small portion of the 11 routes.

The new 19 will extend to serve Charlestown Shopping Centre, and Route 140 will be extended cross city to Rathmines, Terenure, Tallaght (The Square) and Kiltipper.

Some streets and areas will no longer be covered, see dublinbus.ie for details.

Dublin Bus continues to list the cuts in the no 4 bus as an “improvement”; it said it is including the no 4 to inform customers for changes already made. However, it would not answer in what context it sees a frequency cut of 30% on weekdays and 66% on Sundays as an improvement.

The following buses (some routes part of previous changes) at the below frequencies are due to serve the areas covered by the above mentioned buses:

Route/Peak/Off Peak
4 15 15
13 10 15
17a 10 20
19 10 20
83 15 30
140 10 20

Public information days are to be held this week on the on the River Dodder flood study, hosted by Dublin City Council and South Dublin County Council.

The Dodder starts in the Kippure Mountain flows throught countryside and then through urban areas including Tallaght, Rathfarnham, Rathgar, Milltown, Donnybrook, Ballsbridge, and Ringsend, where it meets the Liffey Estuary.

The city council notes that the river has overflowed its banks on numerous occasions causing damage to adjacent properties. It says on August 25 1986, flooding due to Hurricane Charlie damaged over 300 properties, and reservoir dams in the Dublin Mountains were within millimetres of being overtopped.

The open days are to be held on Wednesday June 30 from 3pm to 8pm at South Dublin County Council’s Tallaght Library, and at Dublin City Council’s main foyer at Wood Quay on Thursday July 1 from 3pm to 8pm.

The Dodder Flood Study project team are to be at hand on both days to take questions and comments from members of the public.

The River Dodder Catchment Flood Risk Assessment & Management Study is also available on Dublin City Council’s website.
