Gardai are asking for help from the public finding a 15-year-old girl from Dublin 8.

Shannon Jackson has been missing from New Street since last Thursday, March 31, 2011.

“Shannon is described as being 5’ 4’’ in height of slim build with brown shoulder length hair. It is believed that she may be wearing a red tracksuit and may frequent the Tallaght, Finglas and north inner city areas of Dublin,” said Sergeant Tony Connaughton.

Anyone who may have seen Shannon or have information that may assist in locating her is asked to contact Kevin Street Garda Station on 01-6669400, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

The two – aged 26 and 29 years old — were among four who were arrested when cannabis resin was found in a vehicle in Finglas. All of the men had been detained under section two of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Gardai estimated that the street value of the drugs at €420,000, subject to analysis.

“Two of the men arrested in relation to this incident have been charged and will appear before Dublin District Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice, Parkgate Street, tomorrow morning at 10.30am. The other two men arrested remain in custody at Ballymun Garda Station,” said Sergeant Gerry Curley.

The search was described as part of an on going cross border operation involving An Garda Siochana and the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

Gardai say that officers attached to the Garda National Drugs Unit and Organised Crime Unit stopped and searched three vehicles in Finglas at around 4pm yesterday and that a fourth vehicle was also seized by the PSNI authorities and is being technically examined.

“During the course of searches of the vehicles Gardai discovered approx 70kilos of cannabis resin with a street value of €420,000(subject to analysis) in one vehicle. Four males were arrested and are being detained under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. Two males — 27 and 29 years old — are being detained in Finglas Garda station and two males — 43 and 31 years old — are being detained in Ballymun Garda Station,” said Sergeant Brian Whelan.

“Gardai in Finglas are investigating the discovery. The scene has been preserved. The State Pathologist Marie Cassidy is currently at scene and the Garda Technical Bureau have been notified. It appears that the remains may have been there for some time. No further information at this point,” said Sergeant Tony Connaughton.

Dublin Bus says routes 13 and 13a will be merged into the 13. Route 19a will be renamed the 19 and the current 19 will be merged with the 83.

It says that the 11/a/b will also operate as the 19, but it appears that this effectively means that the route will no longer operate as the 19 only serves a small portion of the 11 routes.

The new 19 will extend to serve Charlestown Shopping Centre, and Route 140 will be extended cross city to Rathmines, Terenure, Tallaght (The Square) and Kiltipper.

Dublin Bus continues to list the cuts in the no 4 bus as an “improvement”; it said it is including the no 4 to inform customers for changes already made. However, it would not answer in what context it sees a frequency cut of 30% on weekdays and 66% on Sundays as an improvement.

The weapons and cannabis plants were seized when the house in the Glenties Park area of Finglas was searched by officers from the Finglas Drug Unit backed-up by uniform gardai.

“While conducting the search cannabis plants — subject to forensic analyst — with an estimated street value of up to €40,000 were discovered in an area of the house converted for the purpose of growing,” said Sergeant Tony Connaughton of the Garda press office.

He added: “Two firearms, a shotgun and a handgun — subject to technical examination — were also discovered during the search. No arrests were made.”

Glen McGrath (40) survived being shot in the chest outside the Cappagh Nua pub on December 30.

“A 26-year-old male was arrested this afternoon, February 15, 2011, in Bray and is presently detained at Finglas Garda Station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act,” said Sergeant Gerry Curley.

He added: “This brings the total arrested in this investigation to 10. The previous 9 were all released without charge and a file will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions.”

Glen Murphy (19) and Mark Noonan (23) were shot dead at the Tesco filling station at Clearwater on November 23.

The arrested man is currently detained at Finglas Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
