Two arrested over Rathfarnham bank robbery

Gardai say they have arrested two men this morning in the Dublin 8 area in relation to a bank robbery in Rathfarnham yesterday.

“At approximately 12 noon yesterday a lone gunman entered the bank branch and demanded money from the cashier. He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and was observed getting into a small blue car which was located a short time later. No shots were fired and no persons injured,” said Sergeant Damian Hogan.

He added: “In a follow-up operation this morning two men were arrested — mid 30s to early 40s — in connection with this incident. They are both being detained at Rathfarnham Garda Station under Section 30 Offences the State Act 1939. Investigations are continuing.”
