Kilmainham Gardai have arrested three more teenagers in connection with the murder of 19-year-old David Byrne.

“The new arrests are all teenagers — two male and one female. They are in custody in various Dublin City Stations.  2 are being detained under section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act and 1 is being detained under section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act,” said Sergeant Gerry Curley.

Earlier today, four male teenagers, in their mid to late teens,  were arrested in the Drimnagh area. Two are being detained under the provisions of section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended and the other two are being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

David Byrne was murdered in Inchicore last Saturday, March 19. He was stabbed in the car park of the Emmet House apartments at the end of Emmet Court, around 400m from his home across the Grand Canal in Drimnagh.

It is believed that he was chased by at least four people from outside his home nearby at Davitt House on Galtymore Road, Drimnagh. From there, the four chased him across Davitt Road, the Luas line and the canal, and into the car park at Emmet House.

“Gardai would like to renew their appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who has any information in connection with the incident to contact them in Kilmainham on 01 6667300, the Garda Confidential Line or any Garda Station,” said Sergeant Brian Whelan.
