Cannabis resin found in vehicle search in Finglas

Gardai searching a vehicle found cannabis resin with a street value of €420,000 yesterday, subject to analysis.

The search was described as part of an on going cross border operation involving An Garda Siochana and the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

Gardai say that officers attached to the Garda National Drugs Unit and Organised Crime Unit stopped and searched three vehicles in Finglas at around 4pm yesterday and that a fourth vehicle was also seized by the PSNI authorities and is being technically examined.

“During the course of searches of the vehicles Gardai discovered approx 70kilos of cannabis resin with a street value of €420,000(subject to analysis) in one vehicle. Four males were arrested and are being detained under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. Two males — 27 and 29 years old — are being detained in Finglas Garda station and two males — 43 and 31 years old — are being detained in Ballymun Garda Station,” said Sergeant Brian Whelan.
