Russian festival comes to Dublin next weekBy area, Dublin City Sunday, February 27th, 2011
Next week sees the Dublin City Russian festival take place, with the week-long festival including a Pancake Day event on Sunday March 6 in Temple Bar.
Street theatre, face painting and food stalls will line Cow’s Lane for Pancake Day, but events in the Russian festival will start tomorrow with a photography exhibition in the Ilac Centre about life in the USSR.
A film festival and art exhibition will also run at civic offices until Friday. Derek Hutcheson of UCD will give a lecture on Tuesday in Trinity College entitled “twenty years on: what do Russians think of democracy”.
The Ireland-Russia Business Association will host a breakfast briefing and network event on Friday on economic opportunities for Irish business in Russia.
On Saturday, the IFI will screen a newly restored version the seminal Russian film Battleship Potemkin not due for general release until April.
