Eight arrests made linked to Finglas shooting

Gardai arrested eight people this morning in connection the shooting of a 40-year-old man in the chest outside a pub in Finglas on December 30.

The eight arrested this morning included five men and three women, their ages range from 26 to 46 years old.

The man was standing outside the Cappagh Nua pub on Barry Road, Finglas, when he was shot.

At the time, Gardai said: “A dark coloured car  believed to a Volkswagen Estate Car drove up close to him. The front seat passenger got out and fired a number of shots hitting the 40-year-old man in the chest. The gunman got back into the car which was driven off in the direction of Barry Avenue. The injured man was removed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.”

The suspects are being detained under the provisions of Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended. The suspects are being detained in the following Garda stations; Bray, Dun Laoghaire, Blanchardstown, Finglas and Cabra.
