Drugs found in cars at Newlands Cross

Dublin Gardai have arrested two men, and seized drugs in Clonsilla and Newlands Cross.

Two men in their 30s were arrested after officers stopped two cars close to Newlands Cross yesterday afternoon. What was described as a large quantity of cannabis herb, subject to analysis, was seized.

Further drugs – including cannabis herb, cannabis resin and cocaine, and all subject to analysis – were found follow up searches of an apartment and a van in the Clonsilla area.

Gardai estimated the drugs to have a street value of €500,000.

The searches – described as an intelligence lead operation – were carried out by the Garda National Drugs Unit, backup by local gardai from Clondalkin and Blanchardstown stations.

The two men arrested are in their 30s are being detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
