Shop staff were tied up in an attempted armed robbery at a shop on Bolton Street in Dublin this morning.
Two male suspects in their early 30s were arrested at the scene after Gardai responded to an alarm around 9.30pm. The men are being detained at Bridewell Garda Station under Section 30 of Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
The two men, at least one with what Gardai believed to be a firearm, entered the shop on Bolton Street and tied up a male and female member of staff in the back office.
Both staff members were uninjured and nothing was taken.
“What is believed to be a firearm was recovered at the scene and has been sent for ballistic examination,” said Sergeant Brian Whelan of the Garda press office. “The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.”
