Further arrests made in Sherriff Street killingDocklands, Dublin City, News Saturday, July 17th, 2010
A 20-year-old man was arrested this afternoon in relation to the shooting dead of a man on Lower Sherriff Street earlier this week.
Another man, aged 25, was arrested yesterday evening in connection with the investigation.
The victim, the 32-year-old Stephen Byrne, was shot at the scene at 4.45pm on Tuesday and pronounced dead shortly afterwards at the Mater Hospital. The shooter is believed to have cycled to Sherriff Street, got off his bicycle and shot the man before cycling away.
Gardai say both are being detained in Store Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939 as amended, and there are no other persons presently detained in relation to this incident.
